Back to School

We just got an e-mail from Ato Teklu Aberra, WACAP’s Ethiopia in-country director (pictured above at our first WACAP House), letting us know that construction on a high school WACAP donors were helping support is completed! He writes,

The inaguration date of the school and the victory of Adwa had fallen on the same date. Because of this, the school was inaugurated in the presence of many government officials! The logo of WACAP was posted on the wall of the school.

Teklu also recently received updates on the 60 children in Axum who are receiving scholarships through WACAP. When the updates are translated from Amharic, we’ll post some of the kids’ progress.

About WACAP

WACAP (World Association for Children and Parents) is one of the largest and most experienced international nonprofit adoption and child assistance agencies in the United States. Since 1976, we’ve placed over 10,000 children with loving adoptive parents and provided food, medical care and education to more than 200,000 children around the world.

  1. My first visit to the WACAP blog and I am delighted to see my not-so-little, Yonas, gracing the screen with his tiny little presence! I cannot believe how much he has grown since he came home August of ’09. We are all so blessed that Ato Teklu continues to provide love and support and never ending commitment to every child that he comes into contact with…what an amazing project! It am overwhelmed with joy and in awe at each and every step that WACAP takes to bring families together and improve the lives of children around the world!!!!!
