Welcome Home, Makenzie

Last month, Makenzie (seen above in her referral photo, left, and today, at home, right) joined her family! Her older sister Kristina, age 18, recently e-mailed us letting us know how life has changed since Makenzie came home from China:

This past month she has been home has been one of the most joyful times in our household, thanks to the  amazing spirit of this little girl. The thought of adopting a child with special needs like Makenzie can be a scary one at times. There are so many uncertainties, and it is hard to know if you have the strength to be the support system that a child with special needs so much deserves. But what Makenzie has shown our family is that it is worth it in so many ways. She is just as happy as any child I have ever known, and has an incredible fighting spirit that keeps her from being beaten down by her disability. Children like Makenzie are an inspiration to be around and it is an honor to have so much strength, courage, and happiness added to our family.

Welcome home, Makenzie!
