Join us in celebrating National Adoption Month!

November is always a busy and exciting time here at WACAP, as we celebrate National Adoption Month.

National Adoption Month traces its roots back to 1976 (the same year WACAP was founded!).  Michael Dukakis, then governor of Massachusetts,  announced an Adoption Week to promote awareness of the need for adoptive families for children in foster care in his state. In 1984 President Reagan made Adoption Week a nationwide event, and in 1995 President Clinton expanded the awareness week to the entire month of November. You can read his proclamation here.

Here at WACAP, we use this time to reflect on the work we’ve done, and look forward to the future, as we continue to bring children home to loving families. We hope you’ll join us, as we’ll be posting here every day throughout the month. You’ll get to know some WACAP families and staff, and get a behind the scenes look at the work we do, bringing children from hope to home.

Leave us a comment and let us know how you plan to celebrate the life changing gift of adoption!

WACAP (World Association for Children and Parents) is one of the largest and most experienced international nonprofit adoption and child assistance agencies in the United States. Since 1976, we’ve placed over 10,000 children with loving adoptive parents and provided food, medical care and education to more than 200,000 children around the world.
