Just Kids

At WACAP, we work hard every day to find families for children around the world and right here at home. There are currently more than 400,000 children in foster care across the United States. 107,000 of these children are waiting for a permanent, loving, family.

So, who are these kids? 45 percent of Americans believe that children are in foster care because they’re juvenile delinquents. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Kids are placed in foster care due to abuse or neglect, or because their family can’t provide a safe environment for them.

They’re kids of all ages and races, from big cities and small towns. In short, they’re just kids. We’ll let these ones tell you more.

Thank you to the Dave Thomas Foundation for statistics and video.

WACAP (World Association for Children and Parents) is one of the largest and most experienced international nonprofit adoption and child assistance agencies in the United States. Since 1976, we’ve placed over 10,000 children with loving adoptive parents and provided food, medical care and education to more than 200,000 children around the world.

So true, and SO important to get this message out. Three years ago, my husband and I adopted a 9 year old boy and a 10 year old girl via foster care. We are constantly amazed at how delightful they are.
