Warm and Bright

handmade knit hats donated to WACAP

A riot of color. It’s the first thing staff sees upon opening the shoebox-sized box that arrives almost monthly at the WACAP office. These packages have been arriving for years, filled with small, vibrant caps, each one knitted by hand.

Just the right size for a child, these hats are requested by many of the orphanages where WACAP works, and we’re able to send them with staff and often with families when they travel.

We appreciate this wonderful donation … but we can’t say thank you better than this little guy:

Yay! That’s our son Tarekegn, whom we adopted in August of 2010! We can’t believe that he’s been with us for over two years! Time flies. We remember receiving the photo of Tarekegn, wearing that adorable hat, while we were waiting to go to Ethiopia to meet him for the first time. Thank you to all of the people who knit those sweet hats!! What a precious gift to all of the children waiting for their forever families. Thank you for posting that picture!
