WACAP Milestones: Esmeé’s Second Grade Project

In the summer of 2009, Tim and Renee adopted two siblings from China through WACAP. They had learned about two older girls in need of adoption earlier that year and officially accepted the match of their two daughters in the spring. Overjoyed, they welcomed Esmée (age 6) and Willa (age 5) home in July, “truly a wondrous pair of girls,” their parents say.

Earlier this year, as a school project, Esmée, now 9 years old, surprised her family with her story of being adopted. Narrated and illustrated from her perspective, she writes about meeting her family and traveling with her sister to come home. Thank you, Esmée, for inspiring us with your story and your creativity.

WACAP (World Association for Children and Parents) is one of the largest and most experienced international nonprofit adoption and child assistance agencies in the United States. Since 1976, we’ve placed over 10,000 children with loving adoptive parents and provided food, medical care and education to more than 200,000 children around the world.
